These suggestions may help reduce the severity and duration of a viral infection.  Please consider these tips in addition to the current recommendations about hand washing, physical distancing, and getting tested if you develop symptoms; and following the guidance of your state and local officials.

Two quick tips to boost your immune system:

  1. Natural Supplements: Vitamin D, DHEA and Melatonin are all over the counter supplements which do not requiring a prescription. All three supplements definitely improve and can optimize your immune system.Recommended dosages:
    Vitamin D: Adults should take at least 2000-5000 International Units (IU) daily to optimize their immunity.
    DHEA: The female dose of DHEA should be 10 mg per day. The male dose of DHEA should 25 mg daily.
    Melatonin: Melatonin is known for optimizing sleep and preventing jet lag. Adults should start between 1-3 mg of melatonin. Melatonin can safely be increased to 40 mg nightly in order to help with sleep and the immune system.
  1. Healthy Foods: A healthy diet of fruits and vegetables and decreasing stress will also improve the immune system. For stress reduction try meditation, breathing exercises and yoga.
