Do you want to look younger, rejuvenated, and more awake?
A cosmetic procedure like blepharoplasty may help you look more awake while loving your appearance again. The team at Moy-Fincher-Chipps is dedicated to personalized patient care to help you look and feel your best.
What is Eyelid Surgery?
Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a procedure that improves the appearance of the upper and/or lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty can be helpful if you have sagging, drooping eyelids that make you look and feel tired. The procedure can also be used if excess skin makes it challenging to see and impacts your visual field.
A facial plastic surgeon at Moy-Fincher-Chipps removes excess tissue from the area around the eyes to improve their appearance. Sometimes fat will also be repositioned to help rejuvenate the face.
Blepharoplasty is an excellent way of correcting the appearance of drooping upper eyelids or bags under your eyes that make you look older than you are. By having a blepharoplasty, you can look more alert, rested, and youthful.
Upper Eyelid Surgery
An upper blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery performed on the upper eyelids. During an upper blepharoplasty, your plastic surgeon will create an incision along the upper eyelid’s natural crease.
After creating the incision, they will remove any excess fat, skin, and muscle as necessary. They may also reposition tissues and muscles to smooth out the appearance of the upper eyelid.
Then, they will close the incision using delicate sutures. Undergoing an upper blepharoplasty helps your eyes look brighter and rejuvenated and ensures that your eyes look more open.
Because the incision is made in the upper eyelid’s natural crease, any scarring is minimal and preserves the appearance of looking natural and like yourself, just younger and brighter. When performed by an expert facial plastic surgeon at Moy-Fincher-Chipps, nobody needs to know you’ve had an upper blepharoplasty except for you since scars are virtually invisible.
Your upper eyelids will look refreshed, allowing you to love what you see in the mirror again.
Lower Eyelid Surgery
A lower blepharoplasty is performed on the lower eyelids.
Your facial plastic surgeon at Moy-Fincher-Chipps will create a surgical plan customized to each patient’s needs. They will either perform this scarlessly with the incision hidden in the inner eyelid mucosa or hidden right below the lower lash line. Then, they will remove and reposition any excess fat, skin, and muscles as necessary.
Removing and repositioning these helps reduce the appearance of bags and wrinkles under your eyes. Fat pads under your eyes can start drooping due to aging, so trimming and moving these can help you look refreshed.
What to Expect During Eyelid Surgery
Because blepharoplasty is an outpatient procedure, you’ll go home after it’s over. However, you’re not allowed to drive yourself home, so ensure you have a friend or family member who can bring you back.
Recovering After Eyelid Surgery
Once you’ve had blepharoplasty and are cleared to go home, you’ll need someone to assist you for the first 24 hours after the procedure. This includes assisting with driving.
Cool compresses can help if you’re experiencing bruising, swelling, and itchiness around your incisions.
