Facelift Recovery

What is a Facelift?

facelift is a surgical procedure to improve the visible signs of aging in the face and neck. Understanding the facelift recovery process is an important part of deciding if a facelift is right for you. To achieve optimal results, it is important to allow adequate time to heal. Fortunately, you’re in phenomenal hands with the cosmetic surgeons at Moy, Fincher, Chipps Facial Plastics and Dermatology. All of the cosmetic surgeons at MFC are Fellowship Trained and Board-Certified.

Treating the whole face

During the facelift procedure, excess skin and fat are trimmed away and the underlying muscles are lifted and tightened. MFC believes in full facial rejuvenation including treating aging skin. We often recommend simultaneous laser skin resurfacing to improve skin tone and texture. In addition, you may elect to combine your facelift with a minimally invasive neck lift or neck liposuction to completely rejuvenate your appearance. You can also choose to repair eyelid and brow drooping at the same time.

Before surgery your cosmetic surgeon will have discussed with you what to expect, when you can return to normal daily activities, and answered your questions. You will receive a detailed set of instructions regarding post-surgical care.

Facelift Healing Time

Healing time and recovery period can last anywhere from one to four weeks, depending on the number of additional procedures you undergo to achieve the most balanced natural results. Most patients feel well enough to work within 10 days to two weeks. It can take at least six months after facelift surgery to heal fully and a year to see final results.

What to expect

At MFC, we perform facelift procedures under tumescent local anesthesia or twilight anesthesia. We make certain that you are comfortable and relaxed, and these options allow for more rapid recovery with less bruising and no surgical drains. Schedule a personalized appointment with one of MFC’s leading cosmetic surgeons.

Immediately after surgery, your head and face will be bandaged. You may or may not have pain. If you do, prescription pain medication will keep you comfortable. After surgery, you’ll be released to continue your recovery from home.
